Major Gaming Releases for March 2018

Here are the major gaming releases for March 2018:

Kirby Star Allies

Release Date: 16th March
Platform: Switch

The next big exclusive for the Nintendo Switch, comes Kirby in his next adventure! In this side scrolling platformer, you’ll be swallowing enemies and copying their abilities.

No doubt this will add a whole lot of variety to the gameplay, being able to access a large range of abilities. Not only that, you’ll be able to recruit up to 3 buddies to play either in co-op with friends, or with AI companions if you play solo.

Nintendo platformers are always crafted with such polish and care, so this should be another treat for Nintendo fans.

Sea of Thieves

Release Date: 20th March
Platform: XBox One, PC

XBox One owners finally have something to be excited about! Live your pirate fantasies in this online co-op swashbuckling adventure.

Sail on your very own ship, seek out uncharted lands, and plunder all the booty you can carry! But don’t let other pirates steal what you’ve rightfully stolen by fighting it out in epic sea battles.

Potentially could be heaps of fun and a barrel of laughs. But can you work together well enough with your friends? Or will you end up walking the plank?

A Way Out

Release Date: 23rd March
Platform: PS4, XBox One, PC

Like Sea of Thieves, this game is played in co-op only. You play either Leo or Vincent, two convicts who have escaped from jail and are on the run from the authorities.

How well you survive on the outside depends on how well you work together. There have been plenty of co-op games in the past, but have not quite been done in this way before. It’s very story-driven, so you and your co-op partner will need to make dedicated time for it.

But this has potential to be a very unique experience and has no doubt been made with a lot of passion, as evident by lead creator Josef Fares.

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom

Release Date: 23rd March
Platform: PS4, PC

In this sequel to the much-loved PS3 game- Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, you play as deposed king of Ding Dong Dell, Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum. Taking place hundreds of years after the events of the original game, you set off to start your own kingdom.

There are clear changes to this sequel with its battle system moving from traditional turn-based combat to real-time combat. It also seems like the Pokemon-like ‘familiars’ no longer take centre stage in combat.

Hopefully this game can live up to the 2013 original, but at least it’s retained its great visuals and charm that captivated us in the first adventure.

Far Cry 5

Release Date: 27th March
Platform: PS4, XBox One, PC

The Far Cry series has taken us from Africa to the Himalayan Mountains. Now we are taken to Hope County in Montana, a large region taken over by cultists led by leader Father Joseph.

The last few entries into the Far Cry series have felt like very similar experiences, so it’ll be interesting to see how Far Cry 5 can differentiate itself from the pack.

One thing is for sure though- you’ll be treated to high-octane action, thrilling car chases, and over-the-top characters!

Games Whisperer’s Top Pick for March 2018:

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom is the game I’m most looking forward to in March. I absolutely loved the original as it excited me to play an RPG of yesteryear. I remember it was done so well too and I’m hoping the sequel can be just as good.

I have every reason to believe it will be, as it has that feel of a real epic journey. There’s not too many games like this anymore (or not done as well), and I know I’ll be sinking many hours into it.

I have a feeling Far Cry 5 will be just like the previous games in the series, so I’m not as excited for it. I’m also not a huge co-op gamer, so that rules out Sea of Theives and A Way Out. Admittedly I’ve never played a Kirby game before so I’m not sure what to expect.

Obviously this March won’t hold a candle to 2017’s March, where we got Horizon Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but there should be something for everyone this March.
